Al-shabaab attacks Police post and telecom mast in Kenya


Armed militants of Al-shabaab have attacked a police station and telecommunication mast in Madera County of Kenya’s north-eastern region about 10:00 pm on Friday, reports.

Resident told the local media that the attack was targeted to Olla village in Medera County and the police station and telecom mast owned by Safaricom were destroyed. Olla is at the Center of Mandera Moyale Road, Kenya.

Nairobi based Newspaper, Daily Nation twitted that the police has repulsed the attack. There is no official comment from the police. Also no casualties yet reported.

The group carries out frequent attacks in neighbouring Kenya, which sent thousands of its troops into Somalia to fight al-Shabab.

Al-shabaab increased the attacks in Kenya this month. Last Sunday the insurgent group stormed US, Kenyan military base in Lamu and killed at least three US soldiers. A day after, on Monday the Al-Qaidda linked group has also attacked Kenyan military base in Kulbiyow, Somalia.
