Exclusive: Government Soldier Involved in Hamarweine Shooting Incident against Women Organization Official Identified.
A soldier working for the Federal government of Somalia was said to have been involved in an attack that targeted Women organization official, killing a member of the organization’s officials and the son of the organization’s chief.
Intelligence source told HornAfrik, during the attack, the soldier was armed with M16 gun manufactured by the United States, which was seized during a security operation on Saturday. The CID police are currently investigating the incident.
Witnesses staying at the scene of the attack identified when the soldier get off a luxury car known as Spacio, then opened fire at the Car of the chairwoman of the national women organization, then returned to the car.
Though working for the Somali government, there are suspicions that the soldier have been working for the Shabab. The arrested soldier who is suspected for the attack, was member of the intelligence unit at the Turkish embassy in Mogadishu.
Both the Somali intelligence and the Turkish embassy did not comment on the arrest of the suspect.
Somali government also arrested the head of the Hamarweine intelligence. However, it was not immediately clear reasons behind the arrest or if his arrest is related to the shooting incident.
NISA’s intelligence department is currently headed by the former Shabab intelligence official, who surrendered to the Somali government. International intelligence organizations questioned Zakariye position at the NISA which is similar to the one he held for the Shabab.
