A cargo plane carrying food aid crashes in Garbaharey
A cargo plane charted by WFP has crashed today at an airport in Garbaharey, the regional capital of Gedo province, shortly after take off from the border town of Dolow.
Osman Nuh Hajji, the deputy governor of Gedo region, told Hornafrik that Plane’s wing struck the wall of a building near the airport before it crash-landed.
He said firefighters responded to the incident, and put off the fire on the plane as the emergency team at the airport have rescued the crew.
The UN cargo aircraft which flew from Dolow town, and was carrying nutrients and other humanitarian supplies for drought effected families in Garbaharey and its surrounding areas.
